Project Poster Session at the Hyatt Regency Hotel

This year’s meeting will probably be the last time all projects will come together to share information. For this reason, NSF and AAAS have decided that the project poster session should showcase the unique aspect(s) of GK-12 efforts.  Consider these questions as you prepare your abstract/poster:

(1) What is your project doing that can be considered: one of a kind, exclusive, exceptional, distinctive?

(2) If you could brand some feature, activity, process, strategy, etc. of your project, what would it be?

(3) What do you want people to remember about your project?

(4) If someone was seeking expert advice on a particular topic/area, why would they contact you? Define the area and why you are an expert.

Submit your project’s abstract.  The submission deadline is February 20.

Please note that the project poster abstracts are not reviewed by a committee.  All projects can submit a poster, but each project will have only one 4′ h x 8′ w poster board on which to display information.

Graduate Fellows STEM Research Poster Session at NSF

GK12 Fellows are invited to submit abstracts about their STEM research for presentation on Friday afternoon, March 16, in the Atrium at the National Science Foundation.  25 to 30 Fellows will be chosen to present by a committee of program staff from NSF and AAAS.  To be considered, Fellows must describe their STEM research as well as how they integrate aspects of it into K-12 classrooms, schools, or out-of-school settings.  The deadline for submitting research poster abstracts is January 30, 2012.  The selections will be announced on or before February 13, 2012.

Submit your STEM research abstract.

Present a Workshop at the GK-12 Meeting

Projects are invited to submit proposals for workshops to be presented on Saturday and Sunday, March 17-18, 2011.  Workshops should focus on activities that were vital to the success of your project and that represent “promising practices.”  Could these “winning” strategies be adapted by other GK-12 projects as well as other efforts that seek to engage graduate students in schools and K-12 students in STEM?  The target areas listed in the application are suggestive only.  If you have an idea other than those shown, please propose it.  The deadline for submitting workshop proposals is January 30, 2012 with notification on or before February 6, 2012.

Submit your workshop proposal.

Please direct any questions to bcalinge@aaas.org.
